THE LIFE OF A SEA LION

I will be telling you about the sea lion. Sea lions live in the ocean. Sea lions eat fish and penguins, and people eat sea lions. To the people that live in the Arctic, sea lions are an important source of food. Sea lions need food and water and a safe habitat. Seals are found mostly at the top of the Earth, in the Arctic Ocean and the Northern Atlantic Ocean.

WHY THEY'RE ENDANGERED & HOW YOU CAN HELP

Sea lions have been hunted by humans for thousands of years. People hunt seals for their skin, fur, and oils. People agreed that seals could be hunted commercially, which means people can sell their skin, fur, or oils. They get the oil from their blubber. And they can make the fur and oil into jackets, clothes, and car oil. It’s called commercially, because they put it on a commercial. Since the 1970s, people became worried about seals, so they haven’t been hunting the seals for their fur as much. This gives me hope because they might not become extinct anymore! If people are already concerned or more concerned, then it makes it easier to save the sea lions! In 1911, Canada, Japan, Russia, and the United States made an agreement that we will protect Northern seals, but I don’t think it’s working out so well.

FUN FACTS

Sea lions are easy to train because they are acrobatic. Sea lions are one of the most playful seals in the world! After they get trained, sea lions and their trainers start to like each other, and they make a strong bond between each other. These sea lions like attention, so they like performing. Another fun fact is that the mom seal gets pregnant in one season, but she can’t have the babies until the next season.
